About The Position

This position is eligible for a $3000 SIGN ON BONUS for joining GHC! (Referral amount prorated based on FTE) Join our team as a Laboratory Purchasing Coordinator, where you'll split your time between performing high-quality clinical laboratory testing and managing the procurement of supplies that support five laboratory locations. This role offers the opportunity to help optimize laboratory operations, assist in the research and evaluation of new products, collaborate with vendors, and ensure our laboratories have the resources needed to provide exceptional patient care. The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) – Registered is responsible for performing laboratory procedures as ordered by a provider. Medical Technologists - Registered work as generalists in the areas of: Chemistry, Hematology and Urinalysis. Responsibilities include performance of lab tests from all Group Health Cooperative of South-Central Wisconsin (GHC-SCW) locations in any or all departments; performance of quality control, troubleshooting, and maintenance functions; collection of specimens; and other tasks as assigned. This position is also responsible for provision of technical support to Medical Laboratory Technicians, providers, and other GHC-SCW internal staff. The MT - Registered works under the general supervision and guidance of the Medical Laboratory Services Manager, Medical Technologist – Chief and/or Medical Technologist – Lead.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology, Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science or related science is required.
  • Valid certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Technologist (AMT) or valid certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Technologist in Microbiology (ASCP), with certification as a Medical Lab Technician (ASCP) or valid certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Technologist in Chemistry (ASCP), with certification as a Medical Lab Technician (ASCP) or valid certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Technologist in Hematology (ASCP), with certification as a Medical Lab Technician (ASCP).
  • Possession of or eligibility for a valid Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certificate is required.
  • Employee must obtain certification within four (4) months of employment.
  • Knowledge of current laboratory safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Knowledge and ability to accurately perform tests.
  • Knowledge of quality control testing procedures and practices.
  • Ability to perform troubleshooting on laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to be culturally sensitive and work with a diverse patient population.
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and use computer-based applications such as MS Office, electronic medical record systems and laboratory related applications.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA requirements.
  • Knowledge of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) of 1988 and requirements to keep GHC-SCW laboratories in compliance is required.
  • Ability to provide own transportation to various work locations is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EPIC is desirable.
