About The Position

The Purchasing Assistant supports the buying team in planning, sourcing, and managing merchandise in alignment with company objectives. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate purchase orders and vendor records, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement. The Purchasing Assistant works closely with buyers, warehouse teams, and management to track inventory performance, resolve shipment and invoice issues, and prepare reports that support informed purchasing decisions. This position requires strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist buyer in planning and purchasing merchandise according to company objectives.
  • Create, track, and maintain purchase orders and vendor records.
  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding product availability, pricing, delivery schedules, and quality concerns.
  • Monitor inventory levels and recommend replenishment or markdown strategies.
  • Maintain accurate product information in inventory and purchasing systems.
  • Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure stock availability.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and forecasts for management review.
  • Track key purchasing metrics and summarize findings for the buying team.
  • Resolve issues related to shipments, invoices, and supplier performance.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
