Purchasing and Warehouse Manager - Pool Construction

Craft Master Custom Pools•West Palm Beach, FL
•$72,000 - $92,000•Onsite

About The Position

Craft Master Custom Pools has been building custom gunite pools in Southeast Florida since 1994. This is a legacy company under new ownership, and we are writing our playbook one day at a time. The reputation and the craft are thirty years old; the systems around them are being built right now. In this role that is unusually literal — there is no purchasing function to inherit and no inventory system to take over. You are building both. You own every dollar we spend on material and equipment, and every piece of it from the moment it is ordered until the moment a crew uses it. We buy from Horner, three SCP branches, Stoneline, Heritage, Home Depot and the equipment manufacturers, and nobody owns that spend. Nobody negotiates our terms. Nobody tracks what we already have before we buy it again. Material shows up late, or early and in the way, or twice. That costs us twice over. It costs margin directly, and it costs schedule — because in a subcontracted business, a trade partner who arrives to a site with no material does not wait around. They go to the next builder and come back when they can. So this is not a clerical buying job. You are one of the two or three people who most directly control whether our jobs finish on time and at the margin we sold them at.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in purchasing, procurement, materials management, or warehouse management, ideally with experience in each.
  • Experience in construction, building products, pool supply, or trade distribution.
  • Demonstrated experience genuinely negotiating with vendors, not just placing orders at list price.
  • Understanding of inventory discipline and the benefits of cycle counts over annual counts.
  • Comfortable with physical tasks including being in the warehouse, receiving freight, lifting up to 50 lbs, and operating or willingness to be certified on a forklift.
  • Strong spreadsheet and software skills, with experience in JobTread for purchasing and job costing.
  • Valid Florida driver's license and a clean record.

Nice To Haves

  • Pool industry experience, including knowledge of pumps, heaters, salt cells, and automation platforms, and their brands.
  • Existing relationships with South Florida pool distributors (Horner, SCP, Heritage, Pool Corp).
  • Forklift certification.
  • Conversational Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Own the commercial relationship with every supplier, negotiate terms, consolidate spend, and maintain a second source for critical items.
  • Purchase pool equipment, tile, coping, plaster, decking material, plumbing and electrical components, ensuring the right product is delivered to the right job on the right date.
  • Coordinate deliveries to ensure material arrives on site when the trade partner arrives, working closely with the Project Scheduler.
  • Track material cost as a percentage of contract value by category monthly, identifying and addressing any cost drifts.
  • Ensure every purchase is coded to the correct job in JobTread for accurate job-level margin reporting.
  • Manage the warehouse layout, organization, cleanliness, and safety, ensuring items can be located quickly.
  • Maintain continuous inventory accuracy with a target of 98% through cycle counts.
  • Receive and verify all incoming shipments against purchase orders, catching short shipments, wrong items, and damage at the dock.
  • Stage and issue materials by job, creating complete kits for crews or subcontractors.
  • Manage returns, credits, and warranty parts, including chasing owed credits and handling manufacturer reimbursements.
  • Track company tools, equipment, and fleet, including ownership, location, and condition.
