About The Position

California Faucets is looking for an experienced and talented Purchasing and Planning Manager who demonstrates strong leadership capabilities and can inspire employees to achieve high-quality standards and meet performance expectations. This position is based on-site at our Huntington Beach, CA facility. Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain & Operations, this position is responsible for managing material procurement from suppliers around the world, production scheduling, and for sales and operations planning (S&OP) for our factory. This position is responsible for sourcing, procurement, planning, cost, scheduling, and forecasting to ensure that customer orders are fulfilled on time. This position is also responsible for developing and managing supplier relationships.

This position directly leads, coaches, and trains a team of Buyers, Planners, and other personnel as deemed appropriate. He/she is responsible for safety initiatives, managing work schedules/assignments, setting clear performance standards, delivering feedback, and coaching team members in all aspects of job performance.
The position requires contact both within the department and between departments on routine matters. Routinely interfaces with management team at multiple levels of the organization.
The position requires the use of judgment to plan and execute decisions to solve a problem or select a course of action for a standard or recognized method of operation.
Under general supervision of the Director, Supply Chain & Operations assignments are both task-oriented and objective-oriented. Follows established procedures for routine work; receives specific instruction on non-routine problems. Able to propose solutions and independently make decisions within a framework agreed upon with direct supervisor.
Responsible for ensuring materials are available to meet customer demand. Accountable to direct supervisor, the Director, Supply Chain, as well as Marketing and Sales to coordinate production scheduling and communicate supply-related issues to customers. Also accountable to work with New Product Launch team to coordinate material availability for new products.
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, management or other related disciplines.
At least five (5) years of progressive experience in management of materials, procurement, and planning within a design and manufacturing environment.
Experience in developing a Sales and Operations Planning program with previous employers
Extensive experience in importing from several countries around the world.
Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and all Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets.
This role requires the ability to move between multiple facilities in both an office and factory environment. Some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend as necessary.

Nice To Haves

Third-party certified ERP, CPIM, or CPSD (APICS) preferred.
Experience in lean, six sigma, or other similar environments preferred.
Bilingual with English/Spanish or English/Mandarin preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee the procurement and production planning functions of the organization to increase inventory turns, minimize operating expenses, maximize product quality, and meet aggressive customer on-time delivery requirements.
Oversee the execution of the forecast process for new and existing products to minimize lead time and maximize customer on-time delivery.
Maintain a robust Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) program involving leadership from Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Finance. This will include but is not limited to performing analysis of customer demand, customer sales forecasts, and historical material usage to develop and execute purchasing plans.
Ensure Planners and Buyers investigate the cause of critical material shortages, schedule delays, and initiate actions to correct these problems.
Oversee the daily activities of the Procurement team, reviewing and approving purchase orders, requests for parts, and MRO requirements.
Provide reports to both sales and management for new product orders, production build schedules, and exceptions to standard schedules.
Develop and maintain Purchasing and Planning Department KPIs.
Provide input to cross-functional business teams to develop the best economic strategy for sourcing material to support customer demand.
Advise manufacturing and engineering concerning remedial action, part rework, alternative supplier engagement, or in-house stock fabrication to ensure work progresses on schedule.
Identify, develop and manage effective relationships with existing and potential suppliers of goods and services to meet the established cost, quality, and delivery targets.
Establish, implement, and manage a system to evaluate, monitor, and report supplier scorecard performance.
Stay current on industry trends, including commodity pricing, logistics and tariff conditions, and other market conditions that may affect the company.
Adhere to established company policies, procedures, terms and conditions and legal matters that affect purchasing policies.
Coordinate and work with engineering and manufacturing operations to ensure 100% on-time delivery by establishing and monitoring schedules to proactively identify and address any issues.
Participate as a member of the operations team in making cross-functional operational decisions.
Create and maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with the various stakeholders operating alongside the Procurement department, including Sales, Quality, Operations, Engineering and Finance.
Review current purchase prices and compare findings to standard prices; provide regular guidance on required standard cost changes.
Understand and maximize the usage of the procurement modules in ERP system.
Attract, hire, train, set goals, hold reviews, and establish accountability for the planning and procurement department resources.
Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining and aligning company policies that adhere to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
