About The Position

Classic Rock Fabrication is looking for a Purchasing Agent – Slabs to join their team at their Harrisburg headquarters. This role is ideal for someone with experience in construction, manufacturing, stone, cabinetry, or building materials who desires a stable, office-based purchasing role closely connected to the shop floor. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for ensuring that stone materials for countertop jobs are ordered correctly, available when needed for production, and used efficiently to minimize waste and reorders. This position helps maintain production flow and control costs by accurately ordering materials daily. The role involves close collaboration with production, programming, and finance teams. It is an execution-focused role, not a management position, and does not involve supervising staff or setting company strategy. The agent will be trusted to operate within established systems and make intelligent, precise purchasing decisions.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing or construction trades
  • Comfortable working with numbers, measurements, and pricing
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work collaboratively with office and production teams
  • Reliable, organized, and accountable
  • Understand how material delays or mistakes impact the shop floor
  • Like structure, accuracy, and seeing the direct results of your work
  • Want a stable role with clear expectations and strong team support
  • Prefer being hands-on with the work instead of managing people

Responsibilities

  • Order stone slabs and materials daily so fabrication stays on schedule
  • Review job details after measurements are completed to confirm the correct materials are ordered
  • Track slab inventory and help make sure existing material is used before new material is purchased
  • Look for ways to reduce waste by using materials efficiently
  • Work with approved vendors on pricing, availability, and delivery timing
  • Check invoices to make sure pricing and quantities are correct
  • Coordinate material transfers between our facilities when needed
  • Participate in short daily production meetings to stay aligned with shop needs
  • Step in to help cover purchasing duties when teammates are out
