About The Position

Next 150 Construction, a fully owned subsidiary of Gilbane Building Company, is seeking a Purchasing Agent II to be responsible for the pre- and post-bid process on one or more projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar technical field
  • 4+ years of purchasing and/or construction experience
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability for public speaking and to lead meetings
  • Knowledge of construction law, contracts, and risk management
  • Knowledge of insurance
  • Ability to read construction drawings and understand specifications
  • Ability to prepare Project Manual
  • Ability to analyze bids, summarize, and present results
  • Participate in the GMP process and understand the importance of Purchasing’s role regarding Trade Partner’s and prequalification.
  • Ability to coordinate effective procurement of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC)
  • Ability to run the pre-bid RFI process

Responsibilities

  • Administers the bid process from project kickoff to award including system set-up, bid package strategy, Project Manual creation, bid list management, drafting, and reviewing bid package scope of work bid meetings, bid leveling, and recommendation to award
  • Administers the contract process including preparing and entering contracts and procurement change orders; assists in negotiation of contract terms; ensures contract compliance
  • Assists in identifying and monitoring current market conditions, Trade Contractors, trends, and costs
  • Recognizes and drives opportunities in the Diverse Owned Small Business (DOSB) utilization process
  • Communicates and coordinates with Trade Contractors, Vendors, and Jobsite Personnel while supporting internal and external customers
  • Assists with Trade Partner risk mitigation strategy and execution including coordination with operations teams and risk management
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced team members
  • Supports a positive and inclusive work environment
