The Pump Mechanic II possesses a moderate understanding of rotating equipment and pump repair. Utilize experience and knowledge of equipment, procedures and product specifications. Inspects work and performs quality checks to ensure conformance to requirements. Will record data for SPC, either manually or electronically. Works as part of a team, and must be willing to support quality and production goals. Occasionally cross checks other pump mechanics.

Requirements

2 - 5 years related experience with machine tools in a Manufacturing/Machine Shop.
Must be able to understand API and other industry standards used in repairs of rotating equipment and pumps.
Ability to read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
Requires solid math skills.
Ability to work in a Pump Shop environment.
Requires lifting parts, tools, and fixtures weighing up to 50 pounds.
Requires ability to read and comprehend engineering and shop drawings and blueprints.
Ability to function as part of a team. Strong Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
Exercises independent judgment in work with pump components.
Ability to work in a moderately uncomfortable environment; i.e., extreme heat, and noise.
Ability to work as a team, and to work with other team members to find a solution.
Consistent, regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.

Responsibilities

Support and adhere to all safety requirements in the department including wearing appropriate PPE and following all safety procedures.
Build positive working relationships with co-workers to achieve productivity. Be part of the team by maintaining high personal standards of job performance.
The ability to recognize pump repair issues, and use expertise and knowledge to assist in reaching effective solutions.
Assist in filling out and completing each work packet with Initial and Final Inspection documentation.
Help to perform Final Q.C Inspections on all components, Final Assembly, Air Testing and Pre-Shipment Inspections.
Be able to Interprets and understands Prints, Mechanical Seal Drawings, OEM Manuals, etc.
Utilize precision measuring instruments such as: Micrometers, Dial Indicators, and Dial Bore Gauge to take accurate measurement within .0005”.
Performs work from operation and planning packages, which include process sheets, tooling lists, and blueprints.
Understands and can interpret engineering and shop drawings and customer requirements.
Assists in inspecting work and performing Quality checks.
Can independently execute complete repairs on at least 2 of the following pump types including Vertical Turbine, Overhung Centrifugal & Horizontal Split Case. This is to include all as found condition reporting, gathering of critical dimensions and documentation of repair completion.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use precision measuring tools to document critical dimensions including micrometers, calipers.
Must be able to execute, with minimal oversight, a pump teardown and inspection including the documentation of as-found condition and report preparation.
Understand and support Chesterton Quality Policies.
Maintains safe and clean work area on a daily basis. Keeps informed of and follows pump shop safety policies and procedures.
Work involves moderate set-ups and close to critical tolerances on various material types.
Takes direction from the Pump Mechanic Team Lead.
Checks own work with inspection tools, gauges, micrometers, indicators, etc., and has work cross-checked by a Quality Control Inspector.
Works under general supervision, instructions only given for complex projects.
Performs routine maintenance on equipment.
