About The Position

Munson Healthcare Pulmonary & Critical Care of Northwest Michigan has an excellent opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the Pulmonary team in desirable Traverse City, Michigan. In this outpatient position, you will be supported by six physicians and a nurse practitioner. The ideal candidate is attracted to a busy practice, works well independently, communicates effectively, and is a team player. The schedule is full time, Monday-Friday, no weekend or call required. In this role, the APP will see patients both independently and in conjunction with a supporting pulmonologist. Patients will have a variety of general pulmonary conditions, including COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, and abnormal imaging findings.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies.
  • State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required.

Responsibilities

  • Works as a member of the clinical team to promote, support and provide management of medical care to patients.
  • Evaluates and reviews the plan of care at regularly scheduled office visits utilizing sound clinical judgment based on assessment of physical, psychological, emotional, societal and environmental needs of the patients.
  • Completes appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care, and services rendered in the electronic medical record to accurately reflect services in the patient record and to ensure appropriateness of billing.
  • Communicates with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment.
  • Responds to telephone inquiries from clinic patients and provides appropriate medical care and/or counseling.
  • Observes the Munson Healthcare Advance Practice Provider prescriptive authority guidelines.
  • Maintains knowledge of current medical trends and ongoing professional development in pertinent medical fields.
  • Participates in and / or serves as a resource for medical, nursing, and community education programs.
  • Meets department productivity requirements.
  • Recognizes and understands the need for full daily schedules.
  • Independently monitors own daily appointment schedule and works in conjunction with other staff members to fill open appointment times.
  • Responds to medical emergencies as required.
  • Promotes personal and patient safety.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate, relate and interact effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
  • Attends CME seminars and conferences to maintain licensure and currency in field.
  • Maintains current BLS.
