About The Position
The Pulmonary Function Technician performs pulmonary function tests on patients, including setting up and operating testing equipment, explaining tests to patients, and collecting and analyzing test data. The technician maintains pulmonary function testing equipment, orders supplies, documents results, communicates results to physicians and other healthcare providers, and provides patient education and support. The role works within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures and is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in respiratory care.
- Respiratory Therapist license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to explain pulmonary function tests to patients.
- Ability to collect and analyze pulmonary function test data.
- Ability to maintain pulmonary function testing equipment.
Nice To Haves
- One year of experience with pulmonary function testing equipment.
