POSITION SUMMARY The Publishing and Officer coordinator reports to the Editor in Chief and is responsible for coordinating a range of publishing activities to support book and materials productions for both print and digital use. PRIMARY DUTIES Coordinate printing activities such as getting printer quote requests for review and approval and scheduling delivery to the warehouse. Maintains cordial, professional relationships with vendors, including local, national, and international printers and Massachusetts-based warehouse. Organizes and maintains all publishing files; digital and print. Identifies updates for all reprints, including edits to the copyright page and other corrections, and coordinates scheduling and input of updates with the graphic designer. Verifies the accuracy of printer invoices and coordinates with the finance department as directed by supervisor. Uploads print files to printers. Registers new books with the United States Copyright Office and procures bar codes and Library of Congress control numbers (LCCNs) for all publications; ensures that sample copies of all new books are sent to the Copyright Office and the Library of Congress. Registers bibliographic information for new retail products with Bowker Identifier Services; keeps information on all titles up to date; purchases and assigns ISBNs as needed. Maintains the publications database to track information relevant to print jobs; keeps the information up to date and easily retrievable. Maintains library of all in-print CRS publications. Conducts research and thinks creatively to provide options for efficient, economical, and effective printing, packaging, and shipping needs for all products. Supports all aspects of author acquisition. Routinely reviews backlist titles for necessary updates. Confirms all submitted writing is original or includes correct citations and permissions. Assists editors in managing a range of project management activities.
