About The Position

Join a global leader in private aviation, offering access to an ultramodern fleet of private aircraft through fractional ownership, leasing and jet cards. Together, our employees in North America and Europe work to provide Flexjet aircraft Owners with the finest experience in premium private jet travel.
The successful candidate for this Publicist position will have a sophisticated style of communicating in person, in writing and on the phone with a wide range of news media reporters and editors. This position will be focused on cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key media contacts securing high-profile media placements in top-tier New York-based and national publications. In addition, we expect this person to manage influencer relationships. This position will be part of the marketing department’s internal media relations agency “The Firm” which serves the flying brands under the Directional Aviation family of companies. Based at Flexjet’s New York, NY, offices or at the company’s Cleveland Headquarters, this position will require about 30% travel including occasional international travel. While not required, a passion for aviation and travel are desirable.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree: English, journalism, marketing, business or communications.
• 8+ years’ experience.
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously, and work in a team environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate with C-level executives.
• Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong grasp of AP Style, grammar.
• Demonstrate a history of success in news media placements.
• Ability to accept feedback and work collaboratively as part of a team while still advocating a clear creative vision.
• Must possess the legal ability to work in the United States.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• High Proficiency in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Must have excellent organizational skills and passionate attention to detail.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and adhere to tight deadlines.
• Must be available to travel.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, including luxury lifestyle publications, business press and aviation industry journalists.
• Secure high-profile media placements in top-tier New York-based and national publications.
• Secure local coverage in key markets.
• Arrange and manage media interviews, press conferences and exclusive media events.
• Guide senior leadership through broadcast appearances and provide critical feedback on the segment factoring in the company’s vision and goals.
• Regular collaboration with company Chairman on storyline development for company and his personal brand.
• Develop engaging story pitches that showcase our unique offerings, such as our Cleveland-based global command center, our diverse fleet and our commitment to safety and luxury among other elements of this global business.
• Identify and secure partnerships with high-profile individuals and influencers in entertainment, business and fashion.
• Manage VIP influencer relationships and coordinate exclusive experiences to generate positive word-of-mouth and media coverage.
• Prepare regular reports on media relations activities, results and recommendations for senior management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with European public relations agency.
• Contribute to the development of overall media relations strategies and best practices.
• Proactively seek out information to inform assigned writing projects from subject matter experts from across all functions of the company.
• Analyze campaign effectiveness and prepare regular reports, using data to inform future strategies.
• Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities and relevant news to guide company initiatives.
• Contribute to the development of overall media relations strategies and best practices.
