The Survey/GIS Intern will support the Public Works Survey and GIS Division by assisting with a variety of technical and administrative activities that support municipal surveying and geospatial operations. This includes scanning, indexing, and organizing historical survey records, performing document management and quality control of digital files, maintaining GIS data, assisting with map production, and supporting CAD drafting and survey research. The intern may also assist with organizing field data, preparing surveying equipment, and providing support to field crews as needed. Depending on the intern's qualifications and departmental priorities, they may have the opportunity to assist with GIS analysis, GPS data collection, field surveying activities, and other geospatial projects under the guidance of professional staff. Beyond the technical work, this internship provides hands-on exposure to municipal surveying, GIS, and infrastructure development while offering the opportunity to build practical skills, gain experience with industry-standard technologies, and contribute to projects that support the City's planning, engineering, and public works operations.
