In this role, you'll help protect the County's underground utility systems by accurately locating and identifying buried traffic signal, roadway lighting, warning beacon, and fiber optic communication lines. Your work plays a vital role in preventing utility damage, supporting construction projects, and ensuring compliance with Florida's Underground Facilities Damage Prevention and Safety Act, Chapter 556, and Florida Statues. You'll respond to both internal and external utility locate requests, providing accurate information to contractors, designers, project managers, consultants, and other stakeholders. You'll maintain detailed records, prepare reports, and document daily activities to support safe excavation and project planning. This position also offers opportunities to assist with the maintenance and repair of traffic signals, roadway lighting, and other traffic control devices. You may occasionally perform light excavation to expose underground utilities, maintain equipment, and support other field operations as needed. If you enjoy problem-solving, working with technology, and playing an important role in protecting essential public infrastructure, this position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.
