The Trevor Project is the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people. Trevor offers 24/7 crisis services, connecting highly trained counselors with LGBTQ+ young people whenever they need support. This role will support the delivery of training programs that advance Trevor’s mission and public education efforts. This role assists in preparing for and facilitating virtual and in-person trainings, maintains and updates training materials, and supports operational tasks such as organizing inquiries and coordinating logistics. Working closely with teammates and cross-functional partners, the Associate applies a learner’s mindset, demonstrates attention to detail, and communicates proactively to support team goals. This is an ideal role for someone eager to contribute to impactful educational programming and develop a deeper understanding of national-scale public training and LGBTQ+ advocacy work.

Requirements

  • 2+ year of experience solo facilitating engaging training sessions to varied, diverse, external group audiences, particularly on identity-based topics and issues
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, including the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ young people
  • Familiarity with crisis management protocols
  • Demonstrated ability to train a variety of learners with different learning styles, applying skills in training specifically for Crisis Services
  • Demonstrated commitment to staff wellness, with a trauma-informed approach, recognizing and addressing the unique challenges and stressors that volunteers face in crisis intervention work
  • A quiet, private work environment with high-speed dedicated broadband internet access (minimum 10Mb down/5Mb up)
  • Proficiency in: Public speaking and facilitation
  • Proficiency in: Adult education
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates live trauma-informed LGBTQ+ educational training programs to diverse audiences
  • Supports updates to training materials by incorporating current best practices and new content
  • Helps prepare training content, facilitator guides, scripts, and slide decks for public-facing presentations
  • Tracks incoming public training requests and support scheduling, organization, and documentation
  • Collects and inputs training data to support metric tracking and reporting
  • Collaborates with teammates and cross-functional partners to support training operations and consistency
  • Adapts to meet the needs of diverse training audiences while maintaining program fidelity
  • Shares ideas for improving training materials and delivery formats in a professional, constructive, and collaborative manner
  • Coordinates logistical needs for trainings, including travel planning and materials preparation
  • Supports responses to partner inquiries via shared inboxes and other communication platforms
  • Demonstrates fair, ethical, and equitable business practices
  • Maintains professionalism, empathy, and accuracy of information across spaces
  • Learns eagerly, receives and and applies constructive feedback with a growth mindset, shares knowledge appropriately, and improves continuously
