DREAM is a network of PreK-12 charter schools and community sports-based youth development programs serving over 2,500 youth in East Harlem and the South Bronx. The Public Speaking Teacher (College and Career Readiness Teacher) reports to the Assistant Principal of College and Career and is responsible for implementing DREAM’s Grow the Whole Child model by driving college and career readiness. This role involves teaching a public-speaking focused curriculum to 9th and 10th graders, developing students' communication, presentation, and leadership skills, and incorporating real-world speaking opportunities. The teacher will also help students understand the role of communication in various careers, use data-driven instruction, manage college and career readiness milestones, lead student presentations, and collaborate with school leaders on student portfolios. Additionally, the role requires supervising student behavior, building relationships with students and families, tracking academic progress, participating in meetings and professional development, and working with support teams to create student plans. The teacher will foster an inclusive classroom environment, analyze data with the grade team, and perform other assigned duties.
