About The Position

This position is responsible for operating light and heavy equipment on project sites in an assigned department. Responsibilities may include providing work direction to labor support; regularly performing basic heavy equipment operation; and performing tasks associated with assigned projects such as repairing streets, forestry tasks, maintaining athletic fields, parks maintenance and snow removal.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D.
Three years’ maintenance and equipment operation or related experience.
Current Minnesota Class A Commercial Driver's License with air brake and tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Operating applicable tools and equipment.
Performing repairs.
Monitoring and replenishing inventory.
Applying communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with municipal urban forestry/vegetation code inspections.
Operating computers and applicable software applications.
Experience plowing with single tandem axle dump truck with wing.
Experience working with asphalt.
Experience in arboriculture including use of chainsaws and other forestry equipment.
Athletic field maintenance experience.
Irrigation experience.
Ability to obtain certifications as required by supervisor.

Responsibilities

Performs semi-skilled and skilled manual labor for assigned area(s), which may include: forestry operations; patching road; plowing snow; mowing; and painting lines.
Performs routine repairs and/or replacement of parts, which may include: repairing park facilities; fence repair; and repairing standard building components.
Operates light and heavy equipment related to forestry, parks and streets and operations.
Monitors tool, supplies, and equipment inventory; notifies appropriate individual(s) when inventory needs to be replenished.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
