About The Position

Serves as the first-line supervisor for nursing staff, providing 24-hour accountability for overseeing patient care delivery, staff performance, and unit operations in accordance with established standards and policies. Acts as a liaison among residents, families, staff, and the interdisciplinary team to promote high-quality, holistic care while supporting staff development through training, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in nursing.
Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization
Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
Requires the ability to pass a background check.
Requires the ability to pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical.
Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
Requires ability utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
Requires ability to travel in the performance of job duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
This position is considered sedentary work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(a)). Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time and requires occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing unassisted.

Responsibilities

Serves as the first line supervisor to the nursing staff in their assigned area.
In accordance with established standards and administrative policies, functions as a nursing supervisor on assigned shift and unit with 24-hour accountability to supervise the delivery of care by evaluation, assessments, procedure, and outcome.
Provides direction and control to all personnel relative to improvement of unit management and patient care.
Acts as liaison between resident, families, staff and the Interdisciplinary Team in order to provide realistic holistic care to the resident.
Conducts in-service training classes and unit meetings.
Performs other duties as required or assigned that are within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
