About The Position

Serves as the first-line supervisor for nursing staff, providing 24-hour accountability for overseeing patient care delivery, staff performance, and unit operations in accordance with established standards and policies. Acts as a liaison among residents, families, staff, and the interdisciplinary team to promote high-quality, holistic care while supporting staff development through training, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in nursing.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization
  • Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • Requires the ability to pass a background check.
  • Requires the ability to pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical.
  • Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
  • Requires ability utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
  • Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of job duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • This position is considered sedentary work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(a)). Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time and requires occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing unassisted.

  • Three (3) years experience exercising judgement and discretion in developing, implementing, and interpreting departmental policies and procedures; estimating and budgeting for future needs and cost of personnel, space, equipment, supplies and services; developing and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the first line supervisor to the nursing staff in their assigned area.
  • In accordance with established standards and administrative policies, functions as a nursing supervisor on assigned shift and unit with 24-hour accountability to supervise the delivery of care by evaluation, assessments, procedure, and outcome.
  • Provides direction and control to all personnel relative to improvement of unit management and patient care.
  • Acts as liaison between resident, families, staff and the Interdisciplinary Team in order to provide realistic holistic care to the resident.
  • Conducts in-service training classes and unit meetings.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned that are within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
