This position is responsible for monitoring and utilizing security systems to maintain a common operating picture of the enterprise. The role involves using advanced technology systems for situational awareness, threat management, and investigative purposes. The Public Safety Telecommunicator I monitors risks that could adversely impact the organization using internal and external systems, including internet, newsfeeds, and other data sources. They also monitor and utilize the security management system, CCTV, visitor management, infant protection, burglar alarm, fire alarm, and related systems to detect emergencies. The role includes maintaining the status and locations of on-duty Public Safety/Security personnel and monitoring/dispatching staff activity and assignments via radio systems and computer-aided dispatch systems. Additionally, they maintain automated logs of Public Safety/Security staff communications and activity. The position also involves responding to Security, Fire, and Safety service requests, incidents, and alarms, receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, evaluating incoming information, questioning callers, following established procedures, prioritizing calls, and dispatching personnel. Effective communication in routine, urgent, and emergency situations is crucial, as is maintaining central database information and seeking guidance from supervisors and peers. The role requires keeping informed of organizational and departmental policies and procedures, and maintaining appropriate security and confidentiality of information.
