About The Position

Patrols the interior of the hospital facility on foot and the exterior of the buildings and all campus property in a security vehicle or by foot. The Campus Security Officer checks doors, windows and all exterior entrances on a routine basis. Patrols all of the floors of the hospital as well as all hospital units, medical centers, business offices and support facilities. Maintains surveillance and observation for criminal activities, lost/missing patients, incidents and areas where security is needed or assistance is required and generally ensures the overall safety of visitors, staff, employees and others who visit Union General Hospital and Chatuge Regional Hospital. Protects all hospital property and facilities against theft, vandalism or abuse. May be assigned to a fixed post in the Emergency Department or other areas maintaining a safe and secure environment. The Campus Security Officer is responsible for his/her assigned patrol zones and areas of responsibility (AOR) as well as all assignments or instructions given by a supervisor during his/her tour of duty. The Campus Security Officer performs preliminary investigations of reported crimes; interviews witnesses; gathers and preserves evidence; and assists law enforcement agencies who come on the Union General or Chatuge Regional Hospital property in the performance of their duties. If necessary issues warnings and citations for violation of traffic and parking rules and regulations. Enforces and ensures compliance with existing hospital policies, rules and requirements. Diligently, and without complaint, fulfills and completes in a timely manner all other assignments as given by his superiors. Directs traffic as required and maintains order at all public gatherings and disaster/critical incidents. Performs all related work as assigned by the Public Safety Director or a Union General Hospital Executive, Chatuge Regional Executive, and/or Administrator that may not be included in the job description.
