About The Position

The Public Safety Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors through routine patrols, surveillance monitoring, emergency response, and enforcement of hospital policies and regulatory requirements. This position responds to fire alarms, medical emergencies, patient elopements, and other critical incidents while assisting with patient safety, visitor management, and crisis intervention. Additional responsibilities include inspecting patient belongings for contraband, preparing incident and shift reports, supporting switchboard and courier operations, providing patient transportation, assisting with minor facility needs, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The role also includes supervising and developing staff when assigned, promoting accountability through performance management, and contributing to the overall security and operational effectiveness of the hospital.

Requirements

  • Maintains certifications and licenses in Security, First Responders, Emergency Vehicle Operations.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of the hospital's Security Plan, Emergency Preparedness Plan, Code Green Procedures, Patient Transportation Procedures, and communications systems.
  • Completes all mandated training.
