About The Position

This position is responsible for providing security for the safety and protection of hospital patients, staff, the general public, and properties. The role involves patrolling buildings and grounds, examining entry points for security, and documenting any unsecured areas. The officer will warn individuals of rule infractions, apprehend or expel those engaged in suspicious or criminal acts, and report irregularities such as fire hazards or security breaches. Responsibilities also include observing departing personnel to prevent theft, recording incidents, assisting local authorities with investigations, and supporting hospital staff in ensuring patient and individual safety. Adherence to all general and special orders is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Obtain and satisfactorily complete the initial 8 hour Hospital Orientation Program and Annual Competency Reviews and any other training as may be occasionally mandated.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior within 30 days of hire required.
  • One years related experience and/or training in public safety.
  • Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior within 30 days of hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the Hospital emergency room programs.
  • Ability to effectively deal with a wide range of public safety issues handling a multitude of variables in changing situations.
  • Ability to interpret and understand written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to instructions that may be furnished by way of written document, oral command or diagram.
  • Ability to cooperate with law enforcement agencies consistent with the Hospital’s legal obligation to protect the rights and privileges of its patients in accordance with Federal and State Laws.
