About The Position

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has an opening in the Office of Public Safety for a Public Safety Officer. Our Public Safety Officers provide personal, equipment, and real property security for faculty, staff, students, and visitors on Institute property. As a Public Safety Officer, you will provide escort services, and other basic public assistance services as needed, and perform routine security and public safety patrol duties on campus. You will remain alert to emergency situations and provide a first-line response, emergency management, and/or referral if required. Other duties as assigned to meet the Institute’s business needs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in criminology or related field plus a minimum of five years’ experience in security, public safety, law enforcement, emergency services, or military experience required.
  • In lieu of a higher education degree, a high school diploma and seven or more years’ of experience in a public safety field will be accepted.
  • Higher-level degrees in relatable fields may be considered in lieu of years of experience.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screenings that include a background check, motor vehicle report, and physical ability assessment are required of the selected finalist(s).

Responsibilities
