About The Position

The Public Safety Officer II provides a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities within the Health Center by being noticeably present. This role involves responding to emergency and non-emergency situations, opening and securing the Health Center, escorting individuals, reporting safety concerns, assisting with maintenance and housekeeping, monitoring outdoor areas during inclement weather, and communicating via radio. The officer must be familiar with emergency shut-off systems and willing to work flexible shifts to ensure full coverage.

Requirements

  • Must meet the physical demands for performing the duties of this job.
  • Courteous manner in dealing with the public.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current or previous law enforcement experience or five years security experience in a Healthcare setting.
  • Current Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms (LTC).
  • Experience using computers and Microsoft Office is required.

Nice To Haves

  • O.C. (Oleoresin Capsicum) Certification or able to obtain in 6 months.
  • Taser Operator Training or able to complete in 6 months.
  • MOAB trained or completed in 6 months.
  • Certified Healthcare Security Office (CHSO) or able to obtain in 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities within the Health Center.
  • Responds within 2-3 minutes to emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Opens the Health Center, ensuring the building is de-alarmed and appropriate doors are unlocked.
  • Secures the Health Center at the close of business by checking doors, ensuring all persons have left, shutting off lights and appliances, and alarming the building.
  • Escorts visitors, patients, and personnel to various locations within the Health Center.
  • Reports any incidence of visitor or employee actions that could result in injury or loss to the company or employees.
  • Assists in maintenance and housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Monitors walks during inclement weather and assesses entrance ways if needed.
  • Carries a radio and communicates clearly with other officers.
  • Is familiar with emergency water, gas, fire system, and electric shut-offs.
  • Willing to work shifts other than regularly assigned schedule to assure full coverage.
