About The Position

Bucknell Public Safety is seeking to hire a dedicated individual to join our team as an ACT 120 certified Public Safety Officer/Police Officer. Requirements

  • Possess a High school diploma or GED
  • Possess and maintain ACT 120 standards in accordance with PA law
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid Pennsylvania vehicle license within 45 days of hire date
  • Must be able to pass a background check for JNET clearance
  • Out of State Candidates must obtain PA ACT 120 Certification prior to hire
  • At time of hire, candidates must hold a current ACT 120 certification in accordance with Pennsylvania law.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, physical exam and psychological test.
  • This position, like all public safety positions, is subject to random drug testing.
  • All Public Safety Personnel are also Campus Security Authorities as defined by the Clery Act.
  • All Public Safety Officer candidates must be able to obtain and maintain ACT 120 status (Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer Education and Training Commission certification).
  • Out of State Candidates must be able to obtain PA ACT 120 Certification prior to hire.
  • Able to wear body armor
  • Able to qualify with a patrol rifle and pistol
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the US without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) or more years of work experience in law enforcement on a college campus

Responsibilities

  • Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service on campus or within the campus geography.
  • Patrols campus, conducts vehicle stops, and issues traffic, parking and criminal citations.
  • Builds relationships and positively interacts with the university community through events and direct engagement.
  • Conducts criminal investigations and follow up interviews.
  • Conducts department training and community safety training, drills and alarm testing.
  • Assists during large events.
  • Provides security and crowd control.
  • Writes detailed reports relating to criminal and non-criminal offenses and prepares cases for legal proceedings as required.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all public/law enforcement safety protocols, procedures, and best practices.
  • Completes regular required training.
