The Public Safety Officer I provides security services with a customer-service approach, focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion even in challenging circumstances and in accordance with policies, procedures, and training. This role inspires confidence in patients, visitors, and team members by presenting a professional, approachable, and service-oriented appearance and demeanor. The officer is alert, observant, and ethical, complying with and enforcing all safety and security rules and regulations, and maintaining their department uniform and equipment in good repair. Responsibilities include performing routine patrols to ensure safety and security, assisting team members, patients, and visitors, ensuring traffic control, monitoring visitor conduct, preventing and investigating workplace violence, and responding to service calls. The officer serves as a primary resource for de-escalation, utilizing use of force when necessary, and performs key responsibilities to plan, prevent, practice, and respond to emergencies. They investigate incidents, address and escalate complaints, perform liaison rounding duties, and deliver security awareness education. Additionally, the officer liaisons with law enforcement and first responder agencies, coordinates and monitors law enforcement prisoner patient guards, and maintains current department training standards. They also assist with exterior traffic and crowd control.
