This is a full-time, 1st shift position for a Public Safety Officer I - Armed at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The role involves providing security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion, inspiring confidence in patients, visitors, and team members. The officer will be alert, observant, and ethical, complying with and enforcing all safety and security rules and regulations. They will maintain their uniform and equipment in good repair and perform routine patrols to ensure safety and security, including inspections, audits, patient valuables management, and contraband searches. The position also requires assisting team members, patients, and visitors, ensuring traffic control, monitoring visitor conduct, and confronting unauthorized persons. The officer will prevent, respond to, and investigate workplace violence, respond to service calls, and serve as a primary resource for de-escalation. Key responsibilities include planning, preventing, practicing, and responding to emergencies such as lost or abducted infants/children, fire, and active threats. The role requires immediate response to emergency and crisis situations, physical intervention when necessary, and investigating incidents on Advocate Aurora property with timely and accurate reporting. The officer will address and escalate complaints, perform liaison rounding duties, deliver security awareness education, and liaise with law enforcement and first responder agencies. They will also coordinate, brief, and monitor law enforcement prisoner patient guards and maintain current training standards in radio communications, verbal de-escalation, stabilization, CPR, application of clinical restraints, and conducted energy weapon (Taser) use, including any/all department-issued equipment and requirements from the Annual Training Plan.
