About The Position

The Public Safety Officer maintains the safety and security of the campus, students, faculty, staff, and visitors while providing assistance and exceptional public relations to everyone on campus.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Professional phone and front desk experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and service-oriented in changing situations.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently.
  • Attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to assist with supplies, donations, and event materials.
  • Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the mission of Concordia Theological Seminary (CTSFW) and the goals and objectives of the seminary.
  • Maintains the safety and security of the campus.
  • Ability to enforce safety precautions and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates kindness, tact, and courtesy toward staff, faculty, students, and guests.
  • Completes a detailed Daily Activity Report for each shift worked.
  • Follows accident report procedures.
  • Alternates walking and driving patrols and patterns throughout the shift.
  • Locks and unlocks exterior doors and rooms as indicated on the calendar.
  • Notes fuel pump reading (the bottom number on the gauge) and records in Daily Activity Report.
  • Patrols boiler room. If any alarms, water leaks, etc. are present, contacts HVAC Emergency Contact ASAP and notes in Daily Activity Report.
  • Ensures exterior door is closed and secured.
  • Ensures all work is performed in a safe, efficient and responsible manner.
  • Maintains safety standards.
  • Maintains CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification.
  • Assists visitors with the check-in and -out of guest dorm rooms.
  • Escorts them to the dorm if they are unfamiliar with the campus.
  • Assists guests and students if they become locked out of their rooms.
  • Assists other departments when needed.
  • Puts up and removes signs for events on campus as indicated on the calendar.
  • Provides shuttle services as requested for all events.
  • Remains available if needed to work extra hours for larger events, including but not limited to: symposia, call service, vicarage placement service, wedding receptions, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
