About The Position

Mixte is a community-driven communications agency focused on justice, health, and freedom. We partner with organizations challenging the status quo and fighting for justice. This is a fully remote role, but candidates must currently reside in the Atlanta or San Francisco metropolitan areas. We are seeking a seasoned PR professional with deep roots in multicultural media and national relationships to join our team and infuse creativity into our PR efforts.

Requirements

  • Must currently reside in either Atlanta or San Francisco metropolitan areas.
  • 5+ years of PR experience, with a heavy emphasis on media relations (agency or in-house).
  • Proven track record earning stories in national and multicultural media for social justice causes.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment (agency, political campaign, or newsroom).
  • Experience across health equity, racial justice, or advocacy.
  • Strategic thinker who understands how PR builds audiences and drives them to action.
  • High emotional intelligence; skilled at anticipating client concerns and building long-term trust.
  • Exceptional writer—press releases, op-eds, pitches, social posts, newsletters.
  • Strong analytical skills; can read the data and translate it into next steps.
  • Experienced in 100% remote environments.
  • Asana, Slack, and Google Workspace fluency required.

Responsibilities

  • Drive big, creative ideas for clients and execute them with precision.
  • Own media relations from strategy through placement, including building lists, writing pitches, drafting press releases, op-eds, newsletters, and social content.
  • Track coverage and report on data insights.
  • Build trusting, long-term client relationships that drive year-over-year contract renewal.
  • Guide clients toward the best PR and digital media approach while making them feel heard.
  • Operate with autonomy, owning timelines, meeting deadlines, and communicating proactively.
  • Develop and implement strategic PR plans tailored to each client's goals and resources.
  • Strategize beyond traditional media relations to incorporate untraditional platforms and digital engagement opportunities.
  • Build and maintain media relationships at national, regional, and local levels.
  • Pitch stories, monitor coverage, track metrics, and report on outcomes regularly.
  • Write all content types: press releases, pitches, op-eds, LTEs, blogs, social posts, and messaging.
  • Create talking points and provide media prep and training for clients.
  • Ideate and coordinate press conferences.
  • Define and own measurement models; translate analytics into action.
  • Collaborate across strategists to ensure initiatives work together toward client goals.
  • Cultivate and earn new business for the company, including outreach, proposals, and hitting revenue goals.
