About The Position

POWER CHANGES LIVES INC is seeking a dedicated and passionate Public Relations Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time position based in Texas City, Texas, United States. As a non-profit organisation, we are committed to assisting low-income, minority, and underserved communities by providing programmes aimed at eliminating disparities in education, health, and social justice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for shaping and protecting our public image, ensuring our mission and impact are communicated effectively to the public, media, and key stakeholders. This role offers a competitive salary of $25 - $35 USD per hour.

Requirements

• Proven professional experience as a Public Relations Specialist, Communications Officer, or a similar role.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Demonstrable experience in media relations and building professional networks.
• Proficiency in using social media platforms and digital communication tools for professional purposes.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A genuine passion for social justice and a commitment to the empowerment of underserved communities.

Nice To Haves

• A Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a relevant field is highly desirable.
• Experience working within the non-profit sector would be a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive public relations strategies that align with the organisation's goals.
• Write and distribute compelling content, including press releases, articles, newsletters, and social media posts.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media representatives, community leaders, and partner organisations.
• Manage the organisation's social media channels, creating engaging content to grow our audience and raise awareness of our programmes.
• Organise and oversee promotional events, press conferences, and community outreach initiatives.
• Monitor all media coverage and public discourse related to the organisation, providing timely reports and analysis to senior leadership.
• Act as a media spokesperson for the organisation, effectively communicating our mission and values.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and campaigns.
• Assist in the creation of marketing materials, such as brochures, annual reports, and presentations.
