About The Position

The Public Relations Specialist will provide strategic public affairs and communications support for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The position will develop press materials, manage media relations, support interviews and events, develop stakeholder messaging, conduct media analysis, support crisis communications, manage web and social media communications, develop communications plans, cultivate partnerships, prepare reports, and provide strategic communications counsel.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must satisfy TIER II/non-critical sensitive background investigation/suitability requirements and CAC/network access requirements, as applicable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of public affairs, communications, project-management, or related professional experience.
  • Strong professional writing and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project-management capabilities.
  • Experience with digital communications tools and platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in high-visibility and time-sensitive communications environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare and/or military communications experience is desirable.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic public affairs and communications initiatives.
  • Draft press releases, media materials, talking points, and related communications.
  • Coordinate media relations and respond to communications requirements.
  • Support interviews, media engagements, and organizational events.
  • Develop stakeholder messaging and communications products.
  • Conduct media monitoring and analysis.
  • Support crisis and contingency communications.
  • Develop content for websites and social media platforms.
  • Develop and maintain communications plans.
  • Build and maintain internal and external partnerships.
  • Prepare communications reports, assessments, and briefings.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
