About The Position

This is a paid internship opportunity within the Public Programs department at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum, located in downtown Nashville. The internship is designed for full-time college students (undergraduate and graduate) seeking to gain hands-on experience in planning and executing educational programs for adult audiences. The intern will work approximately 25 hours per week for 12 weeks, with potential adjustments based on university requirements. The role involves assisting with program preparation, facilitation, visitor services, administrative duties, research, and content creation, with a special task of leading one weekend of regular programs. The internship aims to introduce students to museum-related careers and professions within large cultural organizations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled, credit-seeking, and/or degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student.

Nice To Haves

  • Seeking a degree in education, music, museum studies, event management, or related field.
  • Customer service experience.
  • An interest in country music, or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Research and write introductions for select programs.
  • Curate house music playlists for select programs.
  • Write program entries for the web calendar.
  • Review the web calendar for accuracy and report inconsistencies.
  • Assist with "day-of-show" program management.
  • Perform artist and production tasks, including set-up, escorting performers, and taking notes.
  • Provide guest and audience services, such as managing guest lists, scanning tickets, and answering visitor questions.
  • Participate in department meetings.
  • Print and display weekly Billboard Hot Country and Americana charts.
  • Research exhibit themes for corresponding programs.
  • Brainstorm and research program ideas.
  • Maintain digital records and reports.
  • Lead one weekend of regular programs, from advancing with performers to writing and delivering introductions.
