About The Position

Equality Florida’s Public Policy Department advances innovative policy and defends existing protections to ensure that no one in Florida suffers discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity, and to secure full equality for Florida’s LGBTQ community. We work closely with other Departments on education, grassroots organizing, coalition building, and lobbying. The Public Policy Department solves challenges at the local, state, and federal levels, with a special emphasis on fighting for the LGBTQ community in the Florida Capitol. The Public Policy Department Fellowship involves working with Department staff to advance and defend LGBTQ policy. This primarily includes supporting our advocacy at the Florida Capitol, including assisting with our Pride at the Capitol event, legislative research and tracking, and supporting Equality Florida’s engagement in various coalitions.
