All East Central Health District 6 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Requirements

  • BSN required from accredited University
  • American Heart BLS certification

Nice To Haves

  • DPH background/prior employment desired
  • At least 1 year nursing experience
  • EMR experience
  • Women's Health experience desired
  • Immunization administrations/GRITS knowledge
  • MAPEP

Responsibilities

  • Administer immunizations and conduct screenings
  • Educate the public about preventing communicable diseases such as flu, COVID-19, Tuberculosis, etc
  • Provide clinical services for patients requiring annual exams, STI services and pregnancy tests
  • Follow medically directed clinical protocols to provide care and administer medications and treatments to patients
  • Provide health care information at outreach events and assist in community involvement opportunities
  • The registered nurse is a vital component of the DPH health services, lending aid to community health assessments, health education, disease prevention and control, emergency preparedness and advocacy and policy support
