About The Position

The Georgia Department of Public Health is the lead agency entrusted by the people of Georgia to protect lives and promote healthy lifestyles in diverse communities statewide. As a Public Health RN within the Sumter County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. This position will be housed at the Crisp County Health Department and will be responsible for providing professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and/or procedures. You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities: Function as an expanded-role nurse based out of the Crisp County Health Department but also float to neighboring county health departments, as needed. Provide nursing care consistent with the patient’s level of need. Utilize the EMR system to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement. Order and dispense medications based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol. Will serve as patient advocate and refer patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire
Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license
CPR certification
No experience required
A copy of your college transcript is required

Nice To Haves

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
One (1) year of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse

Responsibilities
