About The Position

The Public Health Preparedness Planner is responsible for performing activities and implementing initiatives that support the public health needs of the county. This is an Essential Employee position. Essential employees are obligated to report to work as scheduled or remain at work during emergencies. Following is the Duty Statement for Essential Employees: "Carries out essential job functions or assigned emergency duties which may involve assignments within the Department of Health Command Center, deployment to a field location to participate in public health activities, or other duties as required during periods of emergency. If received, emergency assignments may be performed under adverse conditions and continue for periods ranging from a few hours to several weeks." Criminal background check is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or trade school diploma, with coursework in biological science, health education, public policy, public health or a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to two years of job-related experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain written and data reports/plans.
  • Accuracy and detailed oriented in data and written tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, analyze, maintain, review, and present data from multiple sources to support community health assessment efforts, Department program planning/implementation/evaluation activities, and community/partner organization requests.
  • Create, compile, evaluate, and present documentation in support of Department initiatives, including Public Health Accreditation and Quality Improvement projects.
  • Participate in the department's design and implementation of the community health improvement strategies with community partners, members, and stakeholders.
  • Research and identify potential plans/policies for opportunities for public health impact on priority health issues in Chester County.
  • Deliver targeted, culturally-appropriate information to help individuals and groups understand Department information and announcements, health promotion and disease prevention information, policies, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners and stakeholders to understand needs, resource limitations and build consensus to achieve program goals.
  • Prepare written reports in professional manner; participate in writing grants and original manuscripts for submission to professional publications.
  • Participate in local, state and national meetings, as needed, to meet the goals of the program
  • Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
