About The Position
The Public Health Nurse (PHN), as an integral member of the Health Network team, provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health Promotion Model and Primary Health Care. The Public Health Nurse translates knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health-enhancing behaviors of individuals, families and population groups through targeted interventions, programs, and advocacy. Inherent in this role are knowledge, skills, and abilities specific to health promotion, prevention, and protection. This employee works relatively independently and is expected to make decisions based on sound assessments in accordance with The Public Health Act, the nursing policies and procedures of the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), the SRNA Standards of Practice, the Canadian Community Health Nursing Standards of Practice, SHA Registered Nurse Specialty Protocols (RNSPs), and other relevant legislation. This employee liases with, and refers to, other health personnel, and other sectors and community groups. The Public Health Nurse works within established guidelines to plan, organize, implement and evaluate nursing programs and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
- Current CPR Level C
- Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- May require access to a vehicle for work.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of one (1) year Public Health Nursing experience is an asset.
