About The Position

The Department of Public Health is hiring two Public Health Nurses to join its Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) team at the Downtown Public Health Center. NFP partners a person pregnant with their first child with a registered nurse, who provides home or community visits from pregnancy through the child’s second birthday. Nurses provide support, information, and resources as clients navigate this period and build the lives they want for themselves and their children. Each nurse serves a caseload of 25 families, participates in weekly reflective supervision, and attends weekly team meetings. One opening is available to all qualified nurses; the other requires Spanish/English bilingual proficiency. This is a 1.0 FTE, fully benefited Career Service position with a typical Monday–Friday schedule of 8 a.m.–5 p.m. The role is overtime eligible and may require work outside typical days and hours to meet operational needs. It is a field-visiting program, and telework is not allowed. The primary work location is the Downtown Public Health Center in Seattle, with work at various locations throughout King County. King County describes its commitment to equity and social justice, including an intentionally anti-racist approach and accountability to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities. Public Health employees must protect the privacy and security of protected health information, comply with OSHA/WISHA requirements, complete required training, and obtain required immunizations. Public Health may assign duties outside the regular job description during an emergency, including response at nights or weekends and deployment to other locations.
