About The Position
Lorain County Public Health is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to join their team as a Public Health Nurse supporting the Substance Use and Overdose Prevention Program. This role focuses on preventing substance use and overdose, and connecting individuals with necessary resources. The position involves working as part of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with community partners, overseeing Naloxone (Narcan) activities, participating in coalitions and committees, performing grant-related tasks, and providing community outreach and education.
Requirements
- Must be a licensed registered nurse pursuant to Section 4723.13 of the Revised Code.
- Must have a valid Ohio driver's license with ongoing proof of auto insurance and be able to travel with reliable transportation.
- Current CPR certification.
- Must have proof of and maintain up-to-date vaccinations for healthcare providers or be in the process of completing.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with three (3) years of nursing experience preferred.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
- Competent in computer skills and electronic documentation.
Responsibilities
- Function as a member of an interdisciplinary team that works to identify and implement systems change related to substance use and overdose prevention
- Collaborate with community partners in the fields of addiction and mental health, including 1st responders and law enforcement
- Oversee Naloxone (Narcan) activities which include but are not limited to; inventory management, policy and protocol development, education and training, community outreach, distribution, mail orders, and monitoring of service entities
- Participate in local, regional, and state coalitions that address substance use, overdose prevention and harm reduction
- Participate in local Overdose Fatality Review (OFR) committee compiling and presenting case review data
- Perform grant related objectives and activities; creating work plans, objectives, budgets, and quarterly grant reporting
- Provide community outreach and education related to substance use, naloxone and other public health initiatives
- Other Public Health Nurse Duties as assigned
