About The Position

As a Public Health Educator I, you will play a crucial role in delivering public health education programs and initiatives aimed at improving community health outcomes. This entry-level position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating health education activities, campaigns, and workshops. You will work closely with community members, schools, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to promote health and well-being. Key functions include: Health education planning, Education delivery, Resource development, Community engagement, Advocacy and outreach.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university AND one year of experience providing health education. (Relevant experience may be substituted for education and education from an accredited college or university may be substituted by relevant experience.) OR: One year of experience serving as a Community Health Worker II or equivalent classification as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.
• Valid driver license is required at time of application.
• Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.
• The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures.
• Proof of immunization(s) or immunization(s) and/or a TB screening will be required post-job offer.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum one (1) year experience with HIV Prevention, testing, counseling, and education.
• Minimum one (1) year experience working with underserved or vulnerable populations, including unhoused individuals, those experiencing substance use disorders, or related experience.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Assists in the development of health education programs, curricula, and materials tailored to the needs of the target population.
• Collaborates with senior educators to design engaging and evidence-based educational content.
• Conducts health education sessions, workshops, and presentations in various community settings, including schools, clinics, and community centers.
• Utilizes effective teaching methods to engage participants and convey health information.
• Maintains an organized inventory of educational materials.
• Collaborates with community partners to coordinate health promotion events and initiatives.
• Engages in community outreach to raise awareness of public health issues and available resources.
• Assists in the preparation of reports and assessments to evaluate program outcomes.
• Maintains accurate records of program participants, attendance, and evaluation data.
