The Transportation Planning and Management Division (TP&M) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working, and doing business in New York City. The Division’s responsibilities include planning street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility and markings, ensuring the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists. TP&M is seeking a motivated candidate to support creative communications and engagement efforts within the Public Engagement Group (PEG), a critical outreach support team for the TP&M Division. PEG supports Vision Zero safety initiatives cited in the agency's Strategic Plan and NYC Streets Plan and has been critical to the agency's public engagement strategy. PEG also provides capacity for public input in the development of Street Improvement Projects (SIPs) and supports the explicit goals of Project-Based Outreach and Public Awareness. Under the direction of the Creative Communications Lead, the Public Engagement Innovation and Design Specialist (PEIDS) will support the development of project-specific collateral and creative engagement strategies across a range of initiatives. This role combines design with opportunities to explore innovative approaches to public engagement, including print, digital, and interactive tools. The candidate will work closely with Project Managers (PMs), internal teams, and PEG leadership to translate technical and programmatic information into clear, visually engaging content, while assisting in the maintenance of templates, internal tools, and reporting materials. The role also includes occasional documentation of field outreach through photography and short-form video content.
