About The Position

Charleston County EMS is seeking a dynamic individual to develop and provide public education on EMS-related topics, including CPR and Stop-The-Bleed, and to represent the department at community events. The position works closely with the EMS Recruitment Officer as part of the Charleston County EMS Outreach Team. Applicants must be current Regular Full-Time County employees. The listed hiring hourly range increases based on County Promotion Procedures. Applications close Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Requirements

• Applicants must be current Regular Full-Time County employees.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Three or more years of experience in education, marketing, communications, community relations, or public relations, or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license with a clean DMV record prior to the start date.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
• South Carolina Paramedic or EMT certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Relevant EMS leadership experience, proven command and Incident Command System (ICS) experience, and experience leading multiple units or companies during incidents and disasters, as described in the equivalent-experience pathway.

Responsibilities

• Develop and provide public education and training on EMS-related topics, including CPR and Stop-The-Bleed.
• Represent Charleston County EMS at community and public events.
• Pursue opportunities to deliver EMS-related information and training in the community and with other public safety agencies.
• Plan events and prepare presentations and exhibits.
• Develop and design educational materials, photography, and videos for events.
