Requirements

  • No formal education necessary.
  • Previous housekeeping experience desirable.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, of the use of cleaning products, and of the operation of cleaning equipment.
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal or written instructions and be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent vision required; emphasis on cleanliness standards and quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the cleanliness of all public spaces including offices.
  • Cleans public restrooms and maintains supplies.
  • Vacuums and shampoos carpets, upholstery, and draperies.
  • Completes daily, weekly, and quarterly cleaning checklists.
  • Dusts and polishes furniture, fixtures, sills, low-boards, railings, elevators, stairwells, and window frames.
  • Cleans all windows.
  • Empties all trash receptacles.
  • Replaces trash bags if used.
  • Removes trash to the dumpster.
  • Cleans public and service elevators (inside and out).
  • Notifies the housekeeping supervisor, maintenance department, or MOD of malfunctioning equipment, needed supplies, or damage to floor covering, upholstery.
  • Attends all departmental meetings in person to improve communication and gain knowledge of products, services, and facilities.
  • Responds to customer inquiries and comments, providing timely and well-informed information to provide customer service.
  • Follows all safety guidelines to ensure the safety and security of oneself, associates, and guests.
