About The Position

Pearl Talent is seeking a Public Accountant for an established South Florida CPA practice that serves small business owners and high-net-worth individuals. This role involves owning the preparation of corporate tax returns (1120, 1120S, and 1065) from raw client financials through filing. The firm has been operating for over two decades and serves a loyal, largely bilingual client base across various industries. The team is experiencing rapid organic growth and is building a tiered preparer-to-reviewer structure.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in a small-to-midsize public accounting / CPA firm serving multiple clients across multiple industries
  • Hands-on preparation of 1120, 1120S, and 1065 corporate tax returns, with 40+ returns completed in a single season
  • Commercial US tax software experience: CCH Axcess, Lacerte, UltraTax, or GoSystem
  • QuickBooks Online and/or Desktop proficiency, including adjusting journal entries, reconciliations, and book-to-tax cleanup
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • C1+ English (CEFR)
  • Availability Monday–Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET, plus 4 hours on Saturdays during tax season (February–April and August–October 15)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complete 1120, 1120S, and 1065 returns for clients across real estate, medical, retail, and trust industries.
  • Input income, expense, and balance sheet data directly into CCH Axcess, including M-1 book-to-tax reconciliations.
  • Manage 40–60 returns per season across the February–April and August–October 15 filing peaks.
  • Assemble complete work papers and document assumptions for partner review.
  • Analyze client QuickBooks files to identify negative balances, miscategorized transactions, and missing accounts.
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries to correct books before tax preparation.
  • Perform year-end close procedures and reconciliations for clients with incomplete books.
  • Translate P&L and balance sheet data into accurate tax work papers.
  • Request missing documentation (1099s, K-1s, bank statements) directly from clients via email and phone.
  • Flag unusual items — foreign entities, gift returns, large one-time transactions — for partner review before proceeding.
  • Ask targeted clarifying questions when client financials don't reconcile.
  • Track return status, deadlines, and deliverables in Canopy practice management software.
  • Participate in bi-weekly video check-ins and daily team communication via Microsoft Teams.
  • Maintain organized digital work papers in compliance with IT security protocols.
