About The Position

This part-time position involves providing patient care activities within an inpatient rehabilitation setting. The role requires demonstrating competency in all patient care activities, developing creative treatment programs, and consistently using safe work practices and proper body mechanics. The PTA is expected to seek yearly assessments of competencies, obtain accurate results from tests and measurements, and collaborate with Physical Therapists to clarify patient status, treatment plans, and goals. Ongoing discussions about patient needs, providing discharge instructions (including written programs), and educating patients and families are key aspects of the role. The PTA will also assist with the completion of discharge summaries.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Accredited School for Physical Therapy Assistants required
  • Current Florida State PTA Licensure required.
  • BLS from American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency in the administration of all patient care activities.
  • Provides for variety and creativity in treatment programs.
  • Safe work practices and proper body mechanics are displayed consistently.
  • Takes responsibility to seek out yearly assessment of competencies, both general and area specific.
  • Accurate results are consistently obtained from tests and measurements.
  • Confers with Physical Therapists to clarify and update patient medical status, treatment plans, contraindications and goals.
  • Ongoing, open discussions regarding specific patients needs are expected.
  • Provides necessary discharge instructions, including written programs.
  • Effectively provides patient and family education, when appropriate.
  • Assists with the completion of discharge summaries.
