To assist in providing environmental education and recreation programming for the County Parks system.
Requirements
Currently earning or possessing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university majoring in Environmental Education, Environmental Science, Education, Parks and Recreation, Biology, and/or related field(s).
Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and usage.
Knowledge of mission, organization, and policies of the Dauphin County Parks and Recreation Department.
Knowledge of personnel policies of County government.
Knowledge and/or interest in recreation, conservation, education, biology, ecology, botany, and geology.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to work independently, have flexibility, and work effectively with co-workers and volunteers.
Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and a willingness to travel as needed to carry out essential job duties.
Must possess knowledge of basic first aid and CPR.
Responsibilities
Assists in the preparation and presentation of environmental education and recreation programs for school-aged children in a day camp setting.
Participates in staff/planning meetings; and attends prescribed conferences and instruction, as directed.
Works a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as necessary.
Helps facilitate outdoor activities including canoeing, hiking, fishing, nature photography and community events.
Completes a project, leaving something behind to better the park system.
Collaborates with volunteers, staff, and community groups.
Assists with park service groups.
Works to help protect the natural resources of the parks and their surroundings.
