About The Position

The LYCRA Company is seeking a PT Laboratory Operator located at their manufacturing plant in Waynesboro, Virginia. This position has a critical role, which will provide support for the Waynesboro production team. The LYCRA Company is a premier supplier of differentiated fiber products from a global manufacturing base with assets in Europe, USA, Mexico, Brazil, China, and Singapore. Our Apparel business works with leading consumer brands, retailers, and fabric mills all over the world to leverage our innovative ingredient brand fibers including LYCRA® fiber, COOLMAX® fabric, THERMOLITE® fabric, SUPPLEX® fabric and TACTEL® fiber. The LYCRA Company is a leading supplier in the global apparel markets including ready-to-wear, intimate apparel, swimwear, activewear, outdoor and career apparel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills. Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Proficient in reading, writing and communicating in English.
  • Willingness and ability to work the following schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Rotating weekend coverage (Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.). Employees who work a scheduled weekend will receive one weekday off during that week.
  • Overtime as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Professional laboratory experience within the last 2 years
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel, and any other basic computer software
  • Successful completion of at least one college level science course; examples include, but are not limited to Math, Physics, Chemistry, Computer, Biology, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples and analyse finished products for control purposes using standard analytical procedures.
  • Run all types of physical analysis when required such as routine, start up, shut down, tests and all other testing required to support site production and trade problems troubleshooting.
  • Record data properly and maintain digital files.
  • Ensure areas are constantly kept informed of results of testing.
  • Perform all quality checks and ensure that all laboratory equipment is running as designed and/or programmed.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision following lab job procedures.
  • Keeping a high standard of housekeeping on all lab working stations.
  • Having a strong sense of urgency and commitment to achieving outstanding results and delivering those results.
  • Communicating with others across the organization.
  • Utilizing strong observation and critical thinking skills
