About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Chair, this role tests, cleans, and performs routine maintenance on automotive laboratory equipment. The assistant helps with the setup and breakdown of class and lab demonstrations, and assists instructors in preparing instructional materials and implementing learning activities. Responsibilities also include monitoring student activities and progress with course assignments in the lab, and ensuring the proper use of all laboratory equipment. The role must comply with all system, college, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of shop tools and equipment with an emphasis on proper use and safety practices
• Knowledge of shop safety procedures
• General knowledge of office computer system operation

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s Degree in a related field with one year of related work experience

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean and safe facilities, which include organizing materials/supplies and tool room inventory
• Perform clerical duties in support of the department
• Operate laboratory equipment and apparatus requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination
• May assist students in a lab/classroom setting
• Must be able to communicate to exchange information verbally
• May require the use of personal protective equipment
• Other related duties as assigned
