About The Position

This is a part-time, onsite instructional position at the Grand Forks, ND campus. The role involves developing content and assessment strategies for orthotics, including design, fabrication, application, fitting, and training. The instructor will motivate, support, and empower students to build confidence in this subject area, assist them in defining academic success, and monitor their progress. Responsibilities include meeting with students individually and in small groups, tracking student success, grading assessments related to orthoses, maintaining student confidentiality, and assisting with lab preparation and disassembly. A key duty is leading in-person instruction for custom orthotics fabrication.

Requirements

  • Licensed occupational therapist
  • 5 or more years clinical experience as a licensed occupational therapist
  • A minimum of 2000 hours of direct practice experience in hand therapy
  • Proficient in design, fit, and fabrication of custom upper extremity orthoses
  • Work independently
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues
  • Withstand periods of standing for orthoses lab
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • Verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Earned Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) credential
  • Past didactic or fieldwork teaching experience in occupational therapy

Responsibilities

  • Develop content and assessment strategies for assessing the need for orthotics, and designing, fabricating, applying, fitting and training in orthoses and devices used to enhance occupational performance and participation.
  • Motivate, support, and empower students to expand their confidence in this subject area by assisting them in defining academic success and monitoring progress for orthotic related content.
  • Meet with students individually and in small groups to reinforce and assist students with understanding course content.
  • Assist in tracking student success and other duties as assigned.
  • Grade assessment strategies related to orthoses.
  • Maintain student confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist with preparation and disassembly of the lab setting.
  • Lead in-person instruction of custom orthotics fabrication instruction and labs.
