About The Position

The PT Aide provides clinical support to physical therapy staff by implementing treatment programs developed by a physical therapist and helping patients with exercises and activities. The role provides feedback on patient and caregiver performance, collaborates with the supervising physical therapist, and supports rehabilitation goals.

Responsibilities include transporting inpatients to and from the Physical Therapy Department, assisting with patient care activities and treatment preparation, administering uncomplicated therapy modalities under therapist instructions and supervision, and cleaning treatment equipment and whirlpools as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of multidisciplinary rehabilitation aide experience, required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association, required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Transports inpatients to and from the Physical Therapy Department, including transfers to and from a wheelchair.
• Assists clinical staff with patient care activities, including bed positioning, transfers, and gait training.
• Administers uncomplicated therapy modalities and procedures under a therapist’s instructions and supervision.
• Prepares patients for treatment, including assisting with dressing, applying braces and prostheses, removing segmental compression devices, and obtaining or preparing appropriate equipment.
• Fills and cleans whirlpools as necessary.
• Cleans and disinfects treatment tables and other equipment as needed.
• Provides objective feedback on patient and caregiver performance and collaborates with the supervising physical therapist.
