About The Position

Provides expertise in the field of psychotherapy to the department of psychiatry. This role involves delivering lectures, readings, seminars, assignments, and clinical supervision to psychiatry residents, psychology externs, and other relevant individuals. The trainer will also participate in curriculum development, review clinical case material to enhance psychotherapy skills, and evaluate student progress in psychotherapy competencies.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or above in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, or mental health counseling
  • Minimum three years’ experience practicing psychotherapy
  • Minimum one year experience providing clinical supervision of psychotherapy
  • Knowledge of a variety of theoretical models for the treatment of patients with psychiatric illness and the ability to apply them
  • Knowledge of supervisory approaches and the ability to critique and supervise residents, interns and externs
  • Knowledge of ethical principles related to the practice of psychotherapy and the capacity to apply them

Responsibilities

  • Provides lectures, readings, seminars, assignments, clinical supervision and other training activities pertaining to the practice of psychotherapy to psychiatry residents, psychology externs, and others, as appropriate
  • Participates in creation of curricula as indicated in coordination with Chief of Psychology
  • Reviews clinical case material and assists in the development of psychotherapy skills
  • Evaluates students’ progress In competencies related to psychotherapy and participates in faculty meetings
